ARBITRATION AT PIAC
-
Arbitration at PIAC is designed for practical and flexible settlements of commercial disputes. Unlike other institutional arbitration centres in Vietnam, we encourage and facilitate both institutional and ad hoc arbitration. PIAC will provide full institutional support to and administer ad hoc arbitral proceedings.
-
In an ad hoc case, the progress of the arbitration is usually left in the hands of the arbitrator and the parties. The institutional oversight by PIAC will help to overcome any possible abuses or delay tactics by an unwilling party.
-
The PIAC Secretariat also acts as a central depository of all original documents if the parties so require, and manages all the financial aspects of the process, including the collection of deposits and when and how much to bill the parties.
-
Although the parties may select any arbitration rules to govern the arbitration proceedings, we strongly recommend them to adopt the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. These rules are comprehensive and internationally accepted. PIAC also acts as an appointing authority under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.
-
PIAC provides full institutional support to arbitral proceedings in Vietnam by international arbitration centres, such as ICC, SIAC or AAA. The PIAC Secretariat acts as a central depository of all original documents if the parties so require.
-
PIAC does not publish facts or statistics about the matters it adjudicates upon.
